How Television Has Changed

Over the years, technology has become more advanced. We have developed many useful and luxurious things such as cameras, the radio, phones, iPods, computers and television. Television has changed drastically over the years in more than one way.

The first form of television was very compact and limited. There were only one to five channels, and people had to get up out of their seat if they wanted to change the station.

Today, there are thousands of channels. Some of the most well-known channels are MTV, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and Disney Channel. Growing up, we could all relate to these channels and they had classic shows such as "SpongeBob," "The Rugrats," "Courage the Cowardly Dog," "Looney Toons," "That's so Raven" and "Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends."

Along with these television shows, MTV strictly showed only music videos. Over time, MTV became a popular channel for reality television shows. The new generation of young people enjoyed it. However, everyone else was outraged with the drastic change in this channel. There were also changes in Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and Disney Channel. Most of the classic shows that we all came to love were discontinued, and now there are very few of them that are still airing.

Television has changed to more of a huge advertisement. Every 10 to 20 minutes there are commercials that interrupt the television program. Also, the television shows that are now airing are mediocre rip-offs of classic television shows or movies, such as the new Nickelodeon show "School of Rock," which is a spi- off of the movie "School of Rock."

The new form of television is Netflix and Hulu. People do not want to wait for commercials and they want to choose what they want to watch. Netflix and Hulu are convenient for people because they can do these things at their own convenience. They don't have to worry about missing a show or movie because they can put it on whenever they want. There are still people who watch television. However, is television dead?

Resting b***h face. Defined as a person, usually a girl, who naturally looks mean when her face is expressionless, without meaning to. Many of you suffer from this "condition." You are commonly asked what's wrong, when nothing is. What people don't know is that is just your facial expression. Here are some things they wish you knew.

College students, you might be able to relate to this one. These probably sound familiar because we often tell ourselves these phrases; however, we are unable to follow or agree with these the following, deep down inside of our overwhelmed, tired minds.

1. "No more spending money on useless things"

Until you walk into a 99 cents store and suddenly have the urge to pick up anything that's less than a dollar.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.
