As Mother Nature dumps feet on feet of snow upon us, this can be a lot of people's worst thoughts imaginable. From being freezing 24/7, to getting slush and wet snow everywhere on you every time you step outside, it's easy to see why some people hate winter. The chilled air may scream holiday season, but not when you're almost at the end of March and the streets are still blanketed white.
Winter is just a tough couple of months filled with snow, slush and ice. While it's a pretty sight to see everything covered in white, it's also quite a nuisance. The cold weather makes your bones hurt, that's for sure. It's hard to believe that in a few short weeks you can go from wearing shorts outside and being comfortable in the warm air, to bundling up with multiple layers to just walk to your car.
Although it's not the most desirable weather, it's important to make the best out of it and keep a positive attitude about it. Think about it; once this season is over it will be a few short weeks until it is sandal and shorts weather, and we can finally stop being pale. A positive attitude is one of the keys in order to survive winter when you're not a winter person.
One key to keeping a positive attitude about is trying to enjoy what winter truly has to offer. Winter time means lots of activities that you cannot do without the implication of snow. You can go skiing, snowboarding, tubing, ice skating among other various winter activities. Personally, I have never been skiing or snowboarding unless you count cross-country. However, if I did hate winter I would love to experience all of the different things that is only available during winter. Ice skating is always enjoyable to do with friends, but falling definitely is not. Even though there is the risk of bruises, it would be amazing to skate around Boston with all of the colorful lights.
When the nights are cold, it is easy to have a negative attitude about the chilling to the bone weather. Not being a winter person and being a part of New England truly is difficult, but also it's pretty amazing to see the snowfall and enjoy warm fires, hot chocolate, and cuddle under a blanket when you want to avoid the cold outdoors.
Winter is an inevitable season if you live in New England, and the snow can go under appreciated. Even though that it could cause a hazard, winter truly is amazing to experience. Plus, only one more season until fun under the sun in summertime!
