It's that time of year again.
Classes are finished, finals have been passed and failed, and college students have returned home to their families for a summer of work and play. It can be exciting to go home and see familiar faces and loved ones, but it's bittersweet to leave behind the new friendships that were formed over the course of the past thirty-two weeks.
Currently, I have been home for about six hours after completing my sophomore year at Purdue University, and I already miss my friends. I have had the best memories with them, and I cannot wait to make more this summer. Some people are excited to be done at the end of each school year, but they don't realize what they're giving up.
Time flies and before you know it, you've graduated.
It's important to savor every minute before you're tossed into the job market and really have to start adulting. So before you go off and have a crazy summer, take time to savor what it's like to have problems like bad acne and homework. Enjoy living with your parents rent-free for the summers and try to take their advice instead of fighting it.
To those of you who are heading into your last summer before going away to college, savor every moment. It will be one of the best summers of your life if you let it, and you have so much growth and many good times ahead of you. Try everything at least once, work hard, and never be afraid to be yourself in any situation.
I have met some of the best people in college, and I look forward to everything that lies ahead of us in the next couple of years. Hopefully, it doesn't go by too fast. I'll see you guys in ninety-nine days and counting!
