How To Start A New Fashion Trend

Getting a compliment on your outfit is one of the best mood boosters, and it makes you feel like you can take on anything. I'm always the most confident when someone tells me they like what I'm wearing, and when you look good, you feel good! Now, imagine that you came up with the trend you were just complimented on. Wouldn't you feel ten times more confident? I probably think I'm a lot trendier than I really am, but I do enjoy trying out new styles. Admittedly, I have failed in many of my attempts, but the few compliments I have received made it well worth the many embarrassments. After a number of trials and tribulations, I have come up with a few helpful tips for starting a new fashion trend.

Don't be afraid to stand out.

Trying new things can be scary, but remember that your goal here is to stand out. If no one notices your new take on the Canadian tuxedo, how will it ever catch on? When you walk outside to start your day in the morning, or mid-afternoon, flaunt your new trend to the world. If you want to show off your shoes, wear capris. If you want to show off your new shirt, don't wear anything over it. This will especially get you attention when its 20 degrees outside during the winter.

Don't be discouraged.

Becoming a fashion icon doesn't happen overnight, so it is important to stick with it. Don't let anyone stop you from achieving your dreams, even if it is making TOMS wedges cool. Don't let anyone tell you that socks and Crocs look terrible with a mini dress. Do you really think Hannah Montana always got it right the first time around? Keep trying, and stick with it. You never know when you're going to run into Tim Gunn.

Go big or go home.

It may be daunting to step out in something completely off the wall, but it is important to jump into it head first. If you're trying to bring back Crocs (which I tried and failed at), don't buy a black pair that will blend in; instead try bright red or yellow. While you're at it, stick some jibbitz on them to give your shoes that extra pizzaz and show people that these babies really can go with any outfit.

Tell people you saw a celebrity wearing it.

Nothing catches on more than celebrity trends, even though half of the clothes they wear make me question their sanity Remember that trends are usually terrible ideas that were just marketed well. If you tell everyone that you saw a Kardashian wearing it 3 days ago, chances are other people will want to rock it too.

Be confident.

The most important thing to remember is that confidence is key. If people believe you're confident in your outfit, no matter how ridiculous it is, they will think you're pulling it off. Attitude is everything when trying out a new style, so make sure to show everyone that you're comfortable and happy in what you're wearing, and chances are someone will want to try it too.

If you follow these tips, you'll be one step closer to becoming the next Rachel Zoe.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
