How To See The Sun In A Hurricane

Lately, have you seen more rainy days than sunny ones? Been caught in more lightning storms than you would have liked? Well... me too. But hey, we've all been there at least once, right? if we haven't yet, then we will. You may be caught in a tornado warning right now, but that doesn't mean you have to let that upset you. I'm here to be your weatherman and tell you how to see the sun in a hurricane.

1. Let the sunshine in whenever you can.

Life can never be completely bad; the scale has to be balanced. It can never be too bad without somehow getting good, even if it's only for a split second. All may seem dark, but there is always, always, a way to see the light in the dark. Even if it's only a small portion it's better than nothing. Life can be really hard at times, but just because it's really hard, doesn't mean every moment of every day is going to be bad. You have to open the blinds sometimes, it will not rain forever.

2. Stay Positive!

The darkness feeds off of negative energy and only makes your weather worse. If you do not have some kind of positive outlook, negativity will consume you and eventually bad will be all you are able to see. It will forever be dark clouds unless you force the sunshine through. Try to keep an open mind! From experience, I have learned that thinking negatively gets you only bad results. If your mind has no room for the good, then the good will never enter it.

3. Let others drag you out of the rain.

Yes, they will try, and you know that you're gonna instinctively push them away because "They don't understand" or because you "deserve to be left alone", but any of the automatic negative thoughts that come up need to be dismissed. If you go out with your friends there is a really good chance you will have a great time! You will feel a whole lot better than if you stayed in bed thinking about all of your troubles. I cannot tell you that distraction is the best method, but it is way better than drowning in your own anxiety.

These are just a few ways to let the sunshine in when you're living in a hurricane. I hope you may find these tips helpful so that you may live your life to the fullest, even when it's hard.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
