You're at the red light, you pull out your phone and check Snapchat, a text, a twitter notification, or anything else on your phone. You look a little too long and you're a little late noticing the light changing to green until the person behind you honks. You're go. You're a little embarrassed, but it's fine. I mean, what's that worst that could have happened, right? We've all been there. Almost every person is guilty of driving distracted. However, when you're driving a car- it's a powerful machine and you have your life and every life you pass on the road in your hands every time you get behind the wheel.

It's almost too easy to forget that when you're behind the wheel, getting distracted could end lives. Falling into the idea that it's been done before and that nothing is going to happen is such an easy mindset, but it isn't the truth. The decisions you make on the road do not only affect you. If you decide to text and drive, or do your make up while driving, or it isn't just you that could be hurt by that. Driving distracted in any way is lethal. If you make the decision to send that text, open that Snapchat and respond, or get behind the wheel after knocking back a few beers- you are putting so many lives at risk.

So many lives have been lost due to negligent driving. This should be a wake up call to all of us. The text can wait. Social media can definitely wait until you are at your destination. Drinking and driving can be put to a complete stop if you get a designated driver, call a cab or and Uber, stay where you are for the night, or simply decide not to drink at all if you don't have a safe way home. Wear your seat belt. Put down your phone. Don't drink and drive. Don't let your friends or loved ones do these things either.

Because the worst that could happen is tragic, awful and heartbreaking. The worst that could happen is a life ending too soon. When you drink and drive, text and drive or anything and drive, you are putting your friends, your siblings, your parents, someone else's family and friend's lives in danger. Put an end to drinking and driving. Put an end to distracted driving.

Too many young lives have been lost lately to negligent driving. Haley Johnson, Bailee Russell, and Lauren Elrod were beautiful people who positively impacted everyone around them. They will be dearly missed. Think about your actions and how they affect those around you.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
