It's a proven fact that most people don't enjoy reading. In high school, I hated when my teachers would make me read Shakespeare or some boring novel written in Old English. But what about the books that we read on our alone time? The words that relax us when we just need them to. I truly believe that reading is good for the soul and I'm going to tell you why.

Reading isn't just mumbling pointless words in your head. A good book should have the ability to tug at your heart strings, transport you to a world that allows you to escape, or allow yourself to access the part of your brain that is creative and fun. To me, reading is more than just looking and flipping pages because it does something to us that is hard to explain. You get invested in characters to the point where they feel like your best friends and the setting becomes so real that you feel as if you've been there. That's something that reading does that watching TV or a movie can't; you can't just flip a button to watch, you have to use your head to see whatever you're reading. That is why I think reading is good for the soul because it introduces us to emotions and feelings that we may not know, but by reading, we can better understand. It could be a thriller, romance, fantasy, or mystery novel and with well writing it could act like any TV or movie would act.

Reading is so powerful that it makes you want to live inside the book. We've all wanted to receive our Hogwarts letter or be told that we were a demigod. We've all wanted to be told that we were something other than human because it's more fun to pretend and be someone else. That is what reading does for people, especially for those in tough times. When you're feeling sad or lost, reading can help you find yourself. I know that's what it does for me.

It helps me go someplace else for an hour or two when I can no longer cope with my life. I mean everyone has their mental breakdowns, and they either go on a shopping spree or sit and watch Netflix the entire night. Reading is a good way to calm your mind and take a break from your stress.

So like I said before, reading is a good balance for your mind and overall good for your soul.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…
