RE: How I Quickly Went From Loving To Hating Taylor Swift

I’m never going to claim I’m the biggest fan, but maybe I am one of the biggest. I follow her music, always will. I grew up with her – watched her break hearts, watched her recover through her music.

I even liked her with Calvin Harris. I like her still with Tom Hiddleston. Someone saying they like her less than Calvin Harris now because of what has happened as of late is out of control.

Taylor started her career with heartfelt bops, and she continues to write them. Tell me how you can’t relate to “I Wish You Would” – wanting something to happen, wishing for it day after day. She wrote “1989” for her fans and for herself. Tell me, can you relate to the song “Clean”? She literally told Secret Sessioners it was written for them – that she wrote it based off of feeling clean from a long love, but you could relate it to anything (cutting, drinking, etc.).

She’s not any different today than she’s always been. She loves her fans, she loves writing music. So what if she’s changed from country to pop? No, it doesn’t sound “mass-produced." She’s not choosing to be less personal – she is the exact opposite.

I’m sorry, but if you’ve fallen out of love with her because you think she’s obsessed with being with a man, you’re wrong. SHE DATED TWO PEOPLE IN TWO YEARS. I’M SORRY, BUT THAT’S THE TRUTH.

Now that I replied to that article, let’s get down to business.

Kimye v. Taylor has taken the world by storm. People have even been leaving the fandom because of it. Here’s my opinion:

It's petty and stupid. I would personally just like to go back to Pokémon GO, but I can't and I’m not alone on that feeling.

My response to the people who are writing hateful articles or are turning their back on Taylor is this: good riddance. I now know who my true friends are. I know the people I’m glad are not in my life anymore. The people leaving Taylor high and dry, well, they probably thought “Blank Space” was literally written about her being a serial dater when it’s just her come back at the media.

No matter what, I'm going to be a Taylor fan. I've never had any feelings about Kim Kardashian nor do I now. I think she may be a little special because why else would you want to be married to Kanye?

Granted, I do have Kanye songs on my phone, but I barely listen to them because, in my opinion, they're not that good.

To be quite frank, it pisses me off that people are just so quick to turn on our girl, and if you’re not turning on her, they say you’re so far up Taylor’s ass that you can’t even see straight anymore.

All I know is that I truly care about Taylor Swift. I stand with her now and forevermore. She may make mistakes. That just means she's human. Aren't we all?

And for that reason exactly, is why I’m still in love with Taylor Swift. Call me obsessed, call me whatever you want. Taylor Swift has done more for me in my life than most of my friends ever have. She takes care of me in a way I never even knew was possible, so maybe that makes me insane, but I will never stop caring about Taylor Alison Swift.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
