How To Prepare For The Cold Winter Ahead

The cold weather is something most people don't like and can you really blame them? The cold weather makes us have to layer up with gloves, hats, scarfs and big puffy jackets and what's great about that? Nothing! I know the snow may look pretty on the trees at first, but once you have to step out into that cold for class or work you instantly hate it.

So if you're anything like me and can't stand the cold, here are some helpful tips you can follow this winter season to keep warm and happy!

Drinking lots of tea and coffee:

Drinking coffee during the day is a great way to stay awake and warm, but on those freezing nights, go for a warm cup of tea. Tea and coffee are great drinks to sip on in the brutal winter, they always keep you warm and they're delicious too! Coffee and tea are the way to go during the winter time, so drink up my friends!

Having soup on the daily:

Chicken noodle soup is obviously a classic, but there are so many other soups great soups out there that you can have. Having soup for lunch or dinner is a great way to keep you warm; also they're delicious and light! Whether you're going out to get it or you make it homemade, soup is the right way to go when it's cold.

Wrap yourself in a warm blanket and watch Netflix:

Wrapping yourself up in a warm blanket on your bed or couch while watching Netflix is the perfect way to end a cold day. "Gossip Girl," "Grey's Anatomy," "One Tree Hill" or "The Office" are great shows to watch and snuggle up with during the cold winter season. After a long day of working or going to school, this is the best thing you can do to help keep you sane.

Taking hot yoga classes:

Yoga classes are a great way to stay in shape, but also it can help you stay warm too! Taking hot yoga is very soothing and you'll definitely break up a sweat from it. You can take yoga classes at a studio in your town, at your local gym, or the gym facility you have on campus. These are all different places you can attend yoga classes, so start now and feel great during the winter time!

Reading a good book in bed:

Finding a good book in the winter is crucial! You can lie in bed all relaxed with your book in hand instead of going out into the freezing cold to an event or party. The winter should be a time to focus on you and read some good books! You can always go online and see what's trending now, or you can go to Barnes and Noble and explore for yourself! Why go out when you can stay in with a good book, enjoy your book and enjoy yourself!

Wearing fuzzy socks EVERY DAY:

You wait all year to finally wear your crazy colored fuzzy socks and now it's finally cold enough to do so! Wearing those cozy, warm socks are the perfect fit for when you go out to school or work. Fuzzy socks are extremely comfortable and fashionable too. So ladies, take out your warm fuzzy socks because we're in prime time to wear them.

I hope you take some of these ideas into consideration for this cold winter ahead of us. These are easy tips to help you keep warm and sane, not to mention they are awesome ideas! Bundle up and keep warm my friends!

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
