How to Plan the Perfect Grad Party
Sylvia Jarrus

Grad season is upon us,that means food music and celebration for recent grads. There is a lot of planning that goes into a party even a small one and it can get overwhelming. Here are some steps and tips to have a well put together party!

1. Pick a theme- Everything will look put together if you have the same color scheme. You can do your school colors or pick different colors that go well together and continue the theme with decorations, silverware to make it look like you put in a lot of effort.

2. Get to pinning- Pinterest saves the day when you're at a loss for decoration ideas. Dedicate a board just for your party and browse the countless affordable decoration ideas. Making the decorations throughout the week leading up to the party will help with a fast set up.

3. Invite more people- Send out an invite through Facebook or send out real invites through the mail for a personal touch. Be aware there will be last minute cancellations and some people won't show so it's best to invite everyone you know, half of them might not show up. The more the merrier.

4. Variety of food- No matter if you're catering or making food yourself be sure there is a variety for people to choose from. Always include vegetarian and gluten free options like fruit and veggies, avoid nuts for people who may have allergies. Classics that never fail are things like fruit, chips and dip, mac and cheese, salad and brownie bites just to name a few. Don’t forget about beverages too, if it’s an open house you might consider serving alcohol, for those 21 or over of course.

5. It's in the details- Real flowers, balloons, and party favors go a long way. Guests will appreciate the effort and thoughtfulness behind the decorations. If you do a photo wall try to include each guest in your pictures so they feel included. Be sure to have a designated area for gifts and a box for cards so that everything stays organized and in sight.

6. Make a playlist- Make your party a hit and add songs for all tastes. Its good to have a mix of older classic songs and some from the top 100 to please everyone. Its a good idea to leave the explicit songs behind.

7. Set up early- The last thing you want to feel is rushed and stressed out on the big day. Recruit friends and family to help you set up decorations and food. Giving yourself a few hours more than you think you'll need is best, chances are you'll be running to the store to get something last minute.

8. Don't forget the basics- Tablecloths, cutlery, cups, plates, trash bags and napkins are basics you can sometimes overlook. Try to get these items matching with your theme to make it look extra snazzy.

9. Be a good host- Always be sure to greet each guest and thank them for being there. Move from table to table and talk to everyone even for just 5 minutes, after all they are there to see you.

10. Have fun- Don't take it too seriously, it's a time to celebrate, relax, and eat good food. A relaxed atmosphere where everyone feels welcome and is enjoying their time make for the best parties.

Toilet Troubles

"So, usually I would never go on a Tinder date but when you are out with girlfriends and a hot Bosnian guy says he wants to hang with you and his friends, you oblige. We head to their apartment and when I realized I may pee my pants if I don't find a bathroom soon. I ask for the bathroom and a friend of my tinder date shows me to it and said in all seriousness that I was not allowed to flush the toilet under ANY circumstances. Having a few drinks--or five--I relieved myself to, nevertheless, flush the toilet. Within seconds, his bathroom was flooded and towels were laid out everywhere to catch the toilet water. To say the least, we were not invited back"
