Anxiety can be a bitch. All the thoughts running through your head; making life harder than it is. Anxiety seems to be overpowering, like a feeling that can consume you. I used to think that I would be able to cope with anxiety and stress--until now. Today, I will be sharing you some technique I used to overcome my anxiety and stress.

The time of year is approaching where a lot of students start to get stressed out. Midterms are approaching, professors are cracking down on homework, project due dates are approaching fast and life just seems to be getting more and more stressful. Today I am you my Top 3 tips to reduce your stress and anxiety this semester.

1. Breathing Technique:

The PEACC center at my university came by my General Education class to show us a breathing technique and I still use it to this day. One way that it calms me down in the heat of the moment is by breathing. The technique that I use is by taking deep breaths. In through your nose and out your mouth. Loosen your jaw to help yourself relax. Breathe in, hold for 3 seconds, and then breathe out for 3 seconds. This technique helps amidst a panic attack as well.

2. Releasing Anxiety:

Exercising is a great source of stress relief stress and anxiety. Going hard in the gym releases all the built-up anger and frustrations. Just leave it at all the gym. Yoga is also another good way to relieve stress. Yoga helps with meditation. And keeping a healthy mind when going through stress is always key. If you are having trouble sleeping at night, exercising is another way to help your sleep without any interruptions. For me, I write out my frustrations which helps to release a lot of baggage. I have a journal where I write out my feelings in poetry, which helps me stay calm.

3. Find Your Happy Place:

For me, while dealing with stress and anxiety, finding my happy place was a game changer. Going to the Waterfront in Downtown Louisville or to the Humane Society to pet animals really helps. Try to escape reality for a minute. Try reading an interesting book and get lost with the story. Even getting out the house for a little bit can help you clear you mind. I love going to run errands when I am dealing with anxiety because it helps me get my mind of the things I am worrying about. Having a sense of peace of mind is always great while dealing with the frustrations of life.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about.
