So, this Christmas I finally jumped in on the hype of the FitBit. I have never been one to want this season's latest trends and newest extravagant gifts, but I've heard many positive things about the FitBit, a high-tech fitness tracker. I'm an avid exerciser and have wanted to get back in shape, and was hoping the Fitbit would be a good choice for me to accomplish this goal of mine.

I decided I wanted the newest Charge model, FitBit Charge 2. It is just like the older model, Fitbit Charge HR, but it has some improvements that make it worth the extra money. It has newer features, such as removable straps, a larger screen, guided breathing mechanism, multi-sport tracking and even more!

Originally, I chose the Fitbit to help keep track with my exercising, but it also has helped me out mental health wise. As someone with severe anxiety, I have to do breathing and meditation exercises when I feel overwhelmed and incredibly anxious. With the new Charge 2 model, it has a guided breathing option for either two or five minutes. During the whole guided breathing session, it tracks your breathing and helps relax the breathing with positive visuals. Before getting my Fitbit, I found it hard to do guided breathing on my own. Now that I have the Charge 2 model, it simplifies what used to be almost a chore.

Also, the Fitbit has constant reminders to get up almost every hour! When I'm in bed and feeling incredibly overwhelmed or depressed, I know to get up because the Fitbit sends constant reminders every hour until I start moving around. Most people might find this rather annoying, but I like the visual reminders and I need motivation from the outside world.

Another factor about most Fitbit models is that they track sleep. For someone who suffers from insomnia, this is a huge step in tracking my sleep and overcoming my insomnia. Fitbit's know exactly when you fall asleep and wake up, and even know when you're restless throughout the night. Now, I know exactly what time my insomnia likes to act up and can change my sleeping habits. It helps me get to bed on time with reminders at a set time to combat against my insomnia.

With constant reminders and goals, the Fitbit is slowly improving not only my physical health, but also my mental health too. I have reminders each hour to get up and move, sleep, and consume more water. After just a week of using the Fitbit, I not only feel better but also happier and healthier. So, why not get fit with the Fitbit?

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
