How My Move In Day Went

Not The Usual Disaster

How My Move In Day Went

Move in day at college went particularly well this year; was it that I now have the whole process down to a science? Was it that I was lucky enough to find a parking spot close to my dorm? Was it that the line for signing in was short when I got there and that I had the incredible luck of finding an available cart right away? I’d have to say it was a mix of it all, but that going smoothly made me ready to jump back into the swing of things with my friends right away.

When my parents and I got on campus, after a much later start than we had planned, we anticipated chaos. Not only the usual chaos that happens from a few thousand students descending on the dorms in a relatively close timeframe, but also with regard to the large construction project in process on campus as well. We couldn’t have been more relieved that we easily got right into the parking lot closer to my dorm, and found not only one but two parking spaces close by.

Getting my room key and signing in was easier than previous years. Maybe it was because I knew what to expect, or maybe it was from the staff being on top of their game, but I seemed to fly right through. As happy as I was about how things were going to that point, I was even happier when I came back out to the lobby, and my dad was leaning against an available cart to bring my things in on. Those usually involve some waiting time, as there are few in comparison to the number of students trying to move in.

We had to make two trips, mostly because I was bringing the TV and refrigerator, but we got everything in and up to my new room. Some of my suitemates were already in the room when we arrived, which was great because the beds were no longer set up as bunkbeds, so we were able to get down to the important business of getting settled and making sure that the TV would be ready for the football game later that day.

Once my parents left, my buddies and I headed downtown to reacquaint ourselves with the usual go to spots, and look at the new that had opened over the summer.

The funniest part was on our return our one roommate who has a reputation for “packing light” showed up with a backpack, two rolling suitcases and a box that his father carried. That is my packing goal for next year.

birthday party

My birthday has never been my favorite holiday. I've found that I'm more excited to celebrate my friends' and family members' birthdays more than my own. I don't like being the center of attention, so I usually celebrate over dinner with a small group of family and friends. This way, I can enjoy myself naturally without feeling like I have to entertain everyone and make sure they are satisfied. In the past when I've had large parties, I was so nervous that people weren't perfectly content that I didn't enjoy myself at my own celebration.

College Informations

Most of us have already started the spring semester, and for those of you who haven't started yet, you suck.

It seems like coming back from winter break wouldn't really be a break all things considered, since we all come back to school and pick up right where we left off. We know exactly what to expect, yet we're unprepared every single time.

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

You know that all of these things apply to you. You'll just never tell.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
