How To Make Your Own Unicorn Frappe

The Unicorn Frappuccino was a major Starbucks hit, selling out in less than two days when it was supposed to be out for a good week. Unfortunately, many of those having to stand in line to wait for the deliciously, cute drink were unable to get it.

I, witnessing this dilemma, decided to re-create the drink as closely as possible!

So keep scrolling to find out how you can make your own Unicorn Frappe!

1. Things you will need (it's not a lot, trust me)

-A blender of some sorts (I absolutely love the Nutri Ninja)

-Mango ice-cream

-Neon pink food coloring

-Blue icing

-Blue sour candy

-Milk

-Whipped cream

-Ice

2. Scoop Mango ice-cream into blender

I did everything by eye to make enough for one cup so I trust you can do the same :)

*I did about three scoops with the tablespoon*

3. Pour about 1/2 a cup of milk and add a cup of ice

Pretty self-explanatory

4. Add some pink food coloring to get the awesome Unicorn pinkness

My food coloring was powder so I added about 1/2 a teaspoon, but it will vary to how pink you want it.

5. Blend that all together and set aside!

Look how pretty!

6. Place drink in freezer to keep cold while you make the blue sauce

If you are using a blender, pour the drink into a cup and cover it before placing it in the freezer.

7. Take blue candy, chop it into bits, and place in your CLEAN blender

My cutting board is pink, I swear.

8. Squirt some blue frosting into the cup, and blend

I added a bit of milk to the mixture to make it a little more creamy. You want to consistency of a creamy paste.

9. Place mixture in zip-lock bag and freeze for about 10 minutes

*My Ninja blade wasn't sharp enough to cut all the pieces of candy, but I re-tried it with another blender and it worked perfectly!

10. Give a quick shout-out to the nice Starbucks girl who gave you a cup for this project

11. Cut a small hole in the corner of the zip-lock holding the blue sour paste and make squiggly lines in the cup

My squiggles died.

12. Pour pink drink into cup, top with whipped cream and you are done!

Conclusion: It tasted pretty much like the Unicorn Frappe, I just wish it was a little more sour. If anyone has any suggestions to perfecting this recipe, please let me know!

Enjoy:)

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
