How to Make the Most of the End of the Semester

With only a few weeks left until the last day of the Spring 2015 semester, everyone is full of feelings of excitement and anxiousness. The question on everyone's mind is, "What are you doing this summer?!" Everyone seems to be more concerned about what will be happening after the end of the semester than what is happening UP TO the end of the semester. College goes by in the blink of an eye, so it's important to take advantage of any opportunity of time that you are given, no matter how small.

The end of the semester is, if not anything else, the most important time of the semester. Remember the few weeks leading up to winter break? Those few weeks left a lasting impression of yourself on friends as well as new people that you met during that time period. The way that you act the weeks before summer vacation is the way that people will remember you throughout the summer. For example, if you decide to only study and not hang out with any of your friends during this time, they'll think of you as the selfish friend that went MIA for weeks at a time. If you make time to go out and see your friends, they'll definitely think of you in a better way.

Here are some things that you should definitely do to make the most of the end of your semester:

Go on Every Function: If your fraternity/sorority has a function, then make sure that you can arrange your schedule so that you can go on it! There are only so many functions each semester, so take advantage of going on all of them. A few weeks ago, I had considered not going on my own sorority formal to Tampa, but recently, I've changed my mind and decided that I definitely don't want to miss out on going on my own formal.

Take a Chance: You'll miss 100% of the shots you never take. This quote is only too true because if you never try, you'll never succeed. No matter what it is that you've been wanting to do, go ahead and try. These last few weeks of college are the time to take a chance before summer. If you succeed, you can spend the summer smiling and excited for the fall, and if you don't succeed, then you'll spend a summer surrounded by friends and family who love you and eventually it'll seem significant in the long pathway of life. So go ahead and ask that special someone to dinner. Go ahead and try that workout class that you've always wanted to do, but never signed up for. Go ahead and take a chance, because it's better than not taking one at all.

Go Outside Your Comfort Zone: This is your last chance during the semester to try things you haven't before outside of your comfort zone. Ever considered rocking a romper in Midtown but never tried it? Well, go ahead and give it a try because I'm sure you'll look and feel incredible. Ever considered trying an art class or attending a club meeting for something that none of your friends are into? Go ahead and try it! You'll meet tons of new people and maybe even learn a new passion of yours.

Take Time for Yourself: With all of your obligations to schoolwork and spending time with your friends, sometimes you forget to take alone time for yourself. It's important to take this time to yourself in order to feel peace with all of the crazy end-of-the-year events going on. Go for a run through nature, read a magazine or even get a massage. Also, this is a good time to prepare yourself for the summer. Studying abroad? Then start packing your bags for living abroad. Spending your summer at home? Then remember to pack everything you need for your summer.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
