Recently I have been trying to improve my lifestyle and way of living. Yes, I am trying to cut sweets out, but do you realize how hard that is? You can’t turn down every piece of chocolate you’re offered. Anyway, since I am not doing too swell with cutting out sugar for a healthier lifestyle, I am trying a few other paths.

One of them includes earlier to bed and earlier to rise. Recently I have started my day with either “Rise and Shine” yoga at the rec or an early workout before morning classes. Something to wake me up and start my day in a positive way.

Along with doing more “rise and shine”, I am trying to fuel my body right from the get-go and eat something like peanut butter toast or oatmeal with fruit. In a small way, it truly does change how I function that day.

These couple things sound like the same basic blogger or “insta-famous” post but they really do back up the saying of “the early bird gets the worm.”

I grew up in a family that loves rising when the sun does and just watching the sky change colors as the time rolls by. A warm cup of coffee and the reminder that we are one small piece to this great big puzzle can change the way you look at your daily agenda and future plans.

The early bird is the first to see the world’s beauty for the day. It is the first to indulge in the goods on this earth. It is the first to sing a morning song. So why not strive for that kind of joy and accomplishment in life?

Sorority

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
