What's Galentine's Day, you ask? Only the best day of the year! Valentine's Day is when you celebrate romantic love with your S.O., but Galentine's Day, Feb. 13, is when you celebrate lady friends. Originally created by Leslie Knope played by Amy Poehler on "Parks and Recreation," the holiday is arguably more important than Valentine's Day. Here are some things to do on Galentine's Day that will basically guarantee that it will be the best day.

1. Shower your lady friends in gifts

Your friends deserve to know that you love them, so what better way to show that than with a token of your gratitude?

2. Go out to eat

You don't have to "kick it breakfast style" like Leslie and her friends, but enjoy a good brunch, lunch, dinner or even late-night drunk food with your closest ladies.

3. Get your drink on

Mimosas, wine, beer, mixed drinks ... you name it, you drink it.

4. Give as many compliments as you can

Galentine's Day is all about letting your friends know how much you appreciate them. Let your true feelings flow and do not hold back.

5. Talk about your love lives

Just because you left your S.O.s at home doesn't mean that you can't talk about them! Let your girls know how you're feeling about your relationship.

6. Eat something sweet

Extravagant desserts are not reserved for Valentine's Day. Bring on the chocolate and whipped cream!

7. Invite as many friends as possible

Everyone deserves to feel the love on Galentine's Day.

8. Plan a fun activity for you and your gal pals to do

Whether you'll be going out to a bar or just staying in and watching movies, do something that you will all enjoy together.

9. Enjoy each other's company — try and keep the texting, tweeting and posting to a minimum

You are there to catch up with your lady friends, so be present in the moment and enjoy their company.

10. Take pictures with your girls to commemorate the best day of the year

Frame it and give it to them next Galentine's Day as a gift!

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
