Staying true to our relationship with God is a constant struggle with all of the earthly obstacles that are in our way each day. We sometimes just need to dive into the word and remind ourselves why we love Him, and why He loves us even when there are times were we may not be deserving of His love. For anyone walking in their relationship with Him, here are some verses to remind us of just that, why we are walking with Him.

1. Proverbs 3:5-6 - "5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

Trusting in God’s plan and purpose for our lives is one of the hardest things to fully submit to Him. It takes time to realize that God’s plans are sometimes much different than our own plans for ourselves and they are also much greater than we can even begin to imagine.

2. 2 Timothy 1:7 - "7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline."

God’s spirit that is in us, gives us strength even in the toughest times. When we are fearful and fall to our knees He gives us strength to move on and lifts us up.

3. Psalm 46:1-3 - "1 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. 2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, 3 though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging."

There will always be earthly obstacles for us to overcome, but when tackling those obstacles we must not fear what God has in store, instead we should embrace Him and let Him guide us through them.

4. 1 Peter 5:7 - "7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."

We all go through seasons in life were much anxiety builds up, but instead of letting our anxiety overtake and overwhelm us we must dive into His word and truth for our lives.

5. Jeremiah 29:11 - "11 'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'"

This will always be my go-to verse for almost any situation. It reminds us of God’s unconditional love for us that He has taken the time to lay out a plan for each and every one of us and His plan includes hope and plans to prosper, but in order to achieve His plans, we must submit ourselves to Him each and every day.

6. John 15:13 - "13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends."

The Lord’s love for us is so deep, deeper than any depth we can even imagine that He would lay His own life down to give us our lives. Thinking about how he loves us is such a humbling and grounding experience.

7. Romans 8:31 - "31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?"

There is no one who can be against us if we are fighting with the Lord, he will protect us in all things and through all things. We have a constant friend in the Lord who will never forsake us.

8. James 1:2-4 - "2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."

Just because God loves us unconditionally does not mean he will not have trials for us to overcome. Some trials are put in our lives just to draw us closer to Him when we have lost sight in our relationship with Him at times.

9. Matthew 11:28 - "28 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

God does not call the qualified, He qualifies the called. This verse reminds us that we do not need to be perfect to submit ourselves to Him, we just have to be willing to let Him work in our lives and situations to better our understanding of Him and ourselves.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
