We’ve all been there, sitting at home claiming there is nothing to do. Or we’ve all been stuck at home with ‘nothing’ to do. Here are just a few simple ways to get things done at home, especially when bored.

Get in a Good Mood!

The best way to do this is to always have a good playlist. Usually, that’s when Pandora or Spotify come into play. There are many different stations to choose from to create the right mood! For added effect, Bluetooth speakers always get the solo party revving!

Just Get Started!

Now that the music and the magic juices are flowing, there’s no choice but to be in a good mood already. Now choose your poison: dishes, laundry or mopping? Personally, laundry is a good place to start. Put that load in and forget about it (well at least until the washer stops spinning).

Next are the dishes! This is where the straw in the drink comes in handy. Wet hands, no problem! This is also a good time to have a phone call with a chatty friend or to blast the Drake station on Pandora -- there are endless possibilities. If you decide to talk to a friend, just put the phone on speaker and in no time those dishes will be done.

Time has probably flown by, and guess what? The dishes are done and it probably won’t seem like a hassle if the previous steps are followed. Now this is the time for a small break, at least until the load in the laundry is done. So make an extra drink, swap stations or make another phone call until it’s time to put the laundry load in the washer. Once the clothes are in the washer, take time to see if anything else needs tending to. Is the room looking a little shabby? Is the bed done? Don’t forget to clean the tables in the living room. This is the time to do a little straightening up.

Now that the clothes are all dry, it’s time to fold. Either play that Pandora station, or catch up on Netflix. This way, you can keep up with any season, and you’re not being lazy! Multitasking is one of the better talents given to man. When used correctly, there are endless possibilities!

Now that the laundry, dishes and house have been cleaned, chances are the time passed by quickly and all of the things you’d normally do, like listen to music and catch up on Netflix, have been done too. You even got to have a conversation and catch up with friends while the dishes were being done.

Doing around the house chores can be accomplished, especially when bored. Once you figure out how to have a good time doing these tasks, they will get done in a timely manner. So get up, don’t get bored or lazy and if you do, find good ways to use the time!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
