How It Feels To Question Your Sexuality

When you begin to question your sexuality it can feel like a roller coaster of emotions. When you first start on your journey everything is new and magical. Exploring this new world is exhilarating. Meeting other people who identify as something other than straight is exciting, hearing their stories interests you. You don't put a lot of thought into it on a daily basis. Then, it starts to get scary. You begin to think about how people will look at you, or if your friends and family will accept you. Will you ever know the truth? Will you ever find someone if you don't even know who you are? This beautiful journey you started on is all of a sudden a torrent of questions and anxiety.

Discovering your sexuality is not always quick and easy. Some journeys take months or even years to complete. Every little thing someone says about sexuality or gender fills your brain with questions. You just want it to be over. You want to know who you truly are. You feel like your stuck in a flurry of feelings and emotion, yet you can't seem to figure out what it all means.

Every journey comes to an end, though. One day you will finish your journey with a new perspective. You may find out you aren't who you thought you were or you may find out that your original identity is correct. That's okay. No matter how you identify at the end of your journey going through this has shown you so much about yourself and solidified a big part of who you are in your mind. My journey was long and scary but I wouldn't trade it for the world. I am a new person because of it.

You will be okay. You will survive. The torment will end and the bliss will begin. Stay strong.
