The End Of The Semester As Told By Barney Stinson

Summer is quickly approaching and there is a lot to do in order to prepare for the end of the semester. Now that the end of the year is near and finals are just around the corner, our lives can be explained in the words of Barney Stinson from “How I Met Your Mother.”

1. Most of us still hold resentment toward our friends who went somewhere sunny over spring break and got tan while we were at home glaring at their Instagram photos.

2. We’re dreading finals week with a burning passion and are trying to convince ourselves that everything will be OK. No one really believes us though no matter how many times that we try to convince him or her.

3. We’re trying to figure out how to cram three months of material into a few weeks of studying. As we try to figure out how to do this, our friends are watching on with a mixture of amazement and disbelief.

4. We’re beginning to come to terms with the fact that cramming all that information in such a short period of time is unrealistic. Unfortunately, we probably realized this reality a couple of hours before the clock strikes midnight on the day of our exam.

5. We’re constantly checking Blackboard to see if our professors have finished grading the assignment that we handed in three weeks ago and when they do, it’s bad.

6. The only thing that is getting us through the rest of semester is the knowledge that soon enough, we’ll be reunited with our friends and will be taking stereotypical beach selfies.

7. We’re calculating our GPA and trying to figure out if there’s any hope of saving it. Most of the time when we calculate, we’re hoping that if we get a C on the exam that we can get an A in the class. However, it’s usually the reverse and we need an A on the exam for a C in the class.

8. We’re all trying to figure out how our classmates are doing and are offering support, but are really hoping that we’re the ones who come out on top.

9. We’re all avoiding the library because we’ve seen what it does to the best of us. We don’t want to go down the same road as those zombies who are seen drinking Starbucks at every hour of the day and looking half dead.

10. We know that we should go to the gym, but we can’t be bothered most of the time. Let’s be realistic, we would much rather be watching those Netflix shows that we have neglected the entire semester.

11. We’d much rather binge on Netflix than write that 10-page paper that’s due soon. Let’s be real—that paper will still be there at the eleventh hour when we are losing their minds, but catching up on our Netflix shows is a much more pressing matter.

12. But at the end of the day, we know it’ll all work out because somehow, it always does.

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
