How I Really Feel About Starting College

First week of college is here!

I finally started my college classes this week. I was lucky to have my classes start on Thursday. There are reasons why I feel like this semester will be one of the best experiences of my life, however, there are also reasons why I feel like this can also be the worst time of my life. Like any other freshman starting college, the beginning will always be difficult and slow paced. The more you explore, the better you will feel about college.

College may not tell you what to expect because everyone there has a different purpose. You may be the student that is trying to get straight A's hoping to get into medical school. You may be the complete opposite and don't care. You may just want to try your best and have fun. Others may be at college because they didn't know what else to do with their lives after high school. College is the place to discover who you truly are. For me, I've learned that living on my own has forced me to be more social and learn how to be independent. I enjoy the independence but there are those moments where I miss my family, but who doesn't?

First of all, college classes are no joke. When people told me that I needed to arrive 15-20 minutes early to class if I wanted a good seat, they weren't kidding. I was 10 minutes early for my organic chemistry class and it was completely full. I was lucky to get a seat in the back.

Friends are not as easy to make as you think. Life was easy in kindergarten when everyone would be my friend because I had the 128-count crayon box.

College walking is much different from high school. I will have one class in one building and then in 10 minutes I would have to be all the way across campus for my next class. Time management skills are a must in college.

As a freshman, I find myself being really lonely compared to high school. Then again it's only been two days since classes started. I kind of feel like I am starting high school again and have no friends yet. I tried out for my college's indian ricochet raas team. Even though tryouts terrified me, I made a few more friends. I encourage other freshman to take the initiative to discover new ways to make friends. Join a team and make friends! Don't be lazy and lonely, it won't make college any easier.

College is the time to see what you can handle. It is a time where classes may take up most of your time. It may be the time where you discover who your best friends are. It may be the place where you realize you really miss your family and past, but whatever you figure out, you will always appreciate the memories you make during this time of your life.

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
