How Fear Is Controlling You

"Fear of the unknown and the other is the root of almost all hate. It is born of ignorance and fed by those who would keep us divided."

Everybody experiences fear. Whether it be walking through an alley way by yourself at night, or being deathly afraid of spiders; everyone has experienced fear. Multiple fears actually. In all reality, we are fed fears daily. Don't be too thin. Don't be too fat. Don't wear this, you have to have that. Oh, what are those people going to think of you if you do that? Because, of course, other opinions matter more than you own on determining your self worth, self value and self confidence. Weird, that things that have to do with the self are given the idea that what determines them is others. Others who are not the self, but their own selves. Others who could all focus on them self, and then everyone could as a collective become better.

You see, as I've mentioned before (and you will probably hear me mention many more times) you are accountable for your own actions. You can't control other people's actions, though you can manipulate a situation. And that is what fear does. Any idea that tells you a negative action/felling will come as a consequence will deter you from that idea. What scares you about a dark alley way isn't the alley way itself; it's what you fear that will happen to you in that alley way. What you fear, consumes you. Literally. If you are afraid of how others perceive you, you will constantly be worrying about what others are thinking about you. Though, others will still think what they are thinking no matter how much you worry about it. What I'm trying to say here is that ideas control the way you think and feel. The idea of what could happen to you is what scares you, because 9/10 times it isn't going to happen to you. Bad things happen to people all the time, but do you think worrying about bad things happening to you will be a solution? Not at all, you are just putting stress on yourself. The law of attraction states we are the creators of our own realities, and by thinking negative and being afraid you create a negative reality. And a negative self

When you look at thought processes, they are all at the core ideas. You come up with the idea about calling your friend to go to a movie, you facilitate it and it becomes reality. Same thing with being afraid of a certain race, you create the idea in your head that this race is bad and then you yourself suffer by living in that reality. Only you and those who agree with you exist in that reality. In that idea. You are creating a negative environment for yourself based on your thoughts, and nothing else. Yes, there may be actions, events, happenings, etc. Yes, at one point someone might have done something to bring you to this fear. But, the past is the past and that is where it lives. You cannot let fear control you if you want to live a peaceful life. Fear is the root of all hate, because I believe fear keeps us from understanding each other. Fear keeps us away from trying to get to see other perspectives, and the other ideas people have.

At the end of the day, we are all ideas. So, what are your ideas going to be? What fear are you going to let control you, and what are you going to let go of? What do you want as your reality? We are all just our own thoughts, our own experiences bouncing back an forth. So, will you choose to be a good one?

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
