When a cup or plate shatters, it breaks into a million pieces. Every shattered piece is unique. It’s nearly impossible to join them with glue or tape as they once were before. Even if you put a broken item together, the cracks are still there.
Surprisingly though, humans are highly malleable. We go through certain events in our lives that literally shatter our hearts and souls into a million pieces. It seems like the end of the world, it seems as if there will never be a light at the end of the tunnel – but we hold ourselves together. We come out stronger than we were before.
Emotions are highly fragile. Our hearts, our feelings, and our sense of being are too. Whether someone has broken your heart, a dear friendship has ended, or you’ve gone through a tragic situation such as unemployment or divorce, it may seem like everything is terrible – but for now. It’s terrible for now, but it won’t be forever.
Give yourself a break. Take time to undergo a withdrawal period. Once the storm has passed, take a step back to look at the bigger picture. You are a different person than you were before. You are now wiser. Be thankful for the experience, good or bad. Because falling on your face just made you stronger.
