Our little fur babies can mean the world to us. From the time we adopt them to the time that we say goodbye, they are our loyal companions through thick and thin. This is how our dogs might see us.
"Human. Please share your delicious looking snack..."
Our dogs see all of the delicious food we eat and they get dry dog food. I know I can't eat a meal without my dog staring me down with those, "Please human...Can I just have one bite?" eyes.
"Human, where are you going? Take me with you!"
I dread that time of day when I have to leave my dog and he just gives me this look like, "But human, I can go with you!" It makes me so sad to leave him sometimes. I think about what he's doing when I'm not home and wonder if he's getting into any trouble.
"Human! You're back! I thought you left forever! I was so worried! You smell like food."
That moment when you come home from school or work and your dog acts like he hasn't seen you in 10 years. That's one of the best feelings in the world. My dog won't calm down for like five minutes even after I get settled in.
"I could really use a belly rub right now."
Dogs live for belly rubs. My dog will roll around on his back and just stare at me until I either give him a belly rub or pet him. It's very adorable.
"Did you say car ride?"
There is nothing my dog loves more than car rides (except maybe treats). Your dog loves going anywhere with you but he also loves to experience new smells and places. So take your dogs on car rides sometimes so they can enjoy a new experience with you. They will love it.
"I'm all ears, human. What's on your mind?"
I'm sure I'm not the only one (or at least I hope not) who talks to his or her dog. I talk to my dog about what's going on and when I'm sad, happy, angry or whatever. He's a good listener. He may tilt his head and wag his tail occasionally to let me know he's listening. He probably doesn't even know what you're saying but sometimes it feels good to just vent to your dog.
"Please don't be upset."
My dog knows when I'm sick, sad, mad, or just upset in general. He will come and lay down beside me, especially if I'm sick. He likes to cuddle too, so that helps. Our pets definitely know us better than we think.
"No, human. No vet please. No."
My dog absolutely hates going to the vet. Unfortunately, he has to go a lot because of a skin condition that he has. Sometimes, for him, a joyful car ride turns into a trip to Hell. As soon as I turn on the street that his vet's office is on, he knows. He will do anything in his power to avoid going.
These are just some of the funny things our dogs do. Unfortunately, so many dogs have to go without homes every year. You could adopt a friend today and save a life by contacting your local shelter.
Adopting is so much cheaper than buying a dog. Plus, you will be saving a life! So think about adoption as an option instead of buying your next furry best friend.
