How do you throw a space party?
You planet.
Plans. We all make them, but oh how the Lord can flip them around! His plan is so good and I have been struggling lately to truly believe that.
God has been leading me in the scriptures by fueling a fire within me to know more about the rich history of the Bible. I originally started reading through Luke because of the holiday season. Christmas was in the air and I thought what better way to get into the spirit than by reading the story of Jesus' life? But as I was reading, I kept wondering about the past lineage of Jesus. I was led to the book of 2 Samuel talking about King David and how he came to power. David was a man after God's heart. Coming into the picture halfway between Abraham and Jesus, God chose to use David in a special way. David makes plans to rebuild the temple. However, in chapter 7, the prophet Nathan receives word from The Lord that David is to be a warrior for the Lord rather than a builder. David had to accept that this was God's plan and utilize the opportunities given to him.
My Bible's footnotes made a good point...accepting God's "no" often requires as great a faith as carrying out His "yes".
David prays to The Lord after hearing of Nathan's revelation. He says in verse 28, "Your covenant is trustworthy." God's promises are good! We need not worry about the future trying to grasp it with our own hands. Taking control of our lives often feels like holding a handful of sand. No matter our grip, a little will always slip through our fingers.
So hand it over to The Lord because He is all encompassing! A good reminder of his faithfulness in order to grow our own is found in 2 Corinthians 1:20...
"For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ. And so through him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God."
