When kids are younger, most of them want to be something like a firefighter or a veterinarian. I know I did for a while. However, when I was 10 years old, I knew that I wanted to make photography my career. Not too many years later, I realized it was my dream to open my own photography studio. I saw a lot of people opening studios from their house or in a cute little store and those people always stuck out to me. Not too many kids can say that about themselves when they were just 13 or 14 years old.
Growing up I spent a lot of time watching photographers anywhere I went: a family party, wedding, or another event where photographers were present. When I got my first real camera at 16 years old, I was so excited to jump right in. I took adventures with my friends and brought my camera to every family party and everywhere I went when I first got it.
Since then, I have been able to attend college for business and start up my own little business through Facebook to get a head start. I’ve had so many amazing opportunities as a young entrepreneur that not a lot of people would get when they’re my age. You definitely can’t do this all on your own so it is nice to be able to rely on people to help you out or to help you start a path for yourself.
Looking back at my decision at 13 years old, there were a lot of things I didn’t know what my future had in store for me, but I’m glad I took the chance and put myself out there to start my business. That’s one of the biggest parts of being an entrepreneur, to be able to take a chance without knowing what will come out of it.
Though the future is scary and unknown, I am excited about everything my career has in store for me within the next few years. While being an entrepreneur is scary, it is one of the most rewarding life choices you could make and I’m glad I could make it at such a young age. I can only hope to improve my photography as well as knowing the basics to running my own business.
