How A College Student Feels About Their Money

It comes and goes.

Like most college students, I am pretty much broke. I am barely able to cover my rent for the upcoming year, and I have to face the fact that I won't be able to go out to my favorite Mexican restaurant as much as I want anymore. During my summer, I basically work and save for my rent, and during the school year, I basically live off the gift cards and money family send me. I also have a part time job, but I'm on a full-time school schedule and participate in a lot of things on campus. Like every college student, money is precious, and we all have our ways with it.

Looking at your checking account.

Looking at my rent and wishing I didn't have to pay that much

Making money at your job, but being sad you have to put it in your savings for rent

Going grocery shopping and seeing how everything is so expensive

When you go out to eat and feel guilty for spending money, but you know it's a better meal than the dining hall or what you could make at home

Going to a place on campus and feeling bad for having to buy the over-priced meals, but knowing that you're starving

How you feel if you have to pay other bills

When you come home and see that even your parents don't have the house stocked with food

When you come home and see that your parents have lots of food

Eating a home-cooked meal

Your grandparents and parents when they're worried about what and how much you're eating

When relatives send gift-cards or money in the mail

When you see your friends having fun but you have no money to go

When you're paying for gas

If you're in a sorority and buying gifts for your future little(s)

Looking for jobs and finding that there aren't many openings and hundreds of people have applied

When you get a part-time job where you can make some money

Seeing that you have more money than you thought

College is a time when you're working hard, but you may not be making the money you want or need to have. But the experiences and result of college make it all worth it in the end.

The first two weeks of classes have come to an end and they have been anything BUT easy. It seems like life has been serving up more bad than good and in all honesty, the only thing you want to do is crawl under your covers and hide from the rest of the world.

Although this seems like the best solution, it is also the easy way out. Take it from the girl who took basically a whole week off from her life because she just could not handle everything that was being thrown at her. This caused her to feel extremely lonely and even more stressed out for being behind in classes that JUST began.

"What's more important? What we become or how we become it?"

Brooke Davis

"She was fiercely independent, Brooke Davis. Brilliant, and beautiful, and brave. In two years she had grown more than anyone I had ever known. Brooke Davis is going to change the world someday, and I'm not sure she even knows it." - Lucas Scott, An Unkindness of Ravens

Brooke Davis of the hit show One Tree Hill was the it girl - she had it all, or so we thought. She started out as a stuck-up, shallow, spoiled, head cheerleader who didn't have her life together. She slept around a lot and loved to party - sounds like your typical high school teenager right? Wrong. B. Davis had so much more to offer. Caring, loyal, and outspoken, she has taught us some valuable lessons throughout the 9 seasons that OTH was on the air:

We all have a person, and when that person makes some new friends, we tend to forget all the great things that can come out of it. Never forget how special they are to you and why you are best friends.
