BookCon NYC Changed My Life

This past weekend I attended Bookcon and it really opened my eyes to a lot of things. I have always known that I wanted to be a published author who was able to share their ideas with the world. While that idea really got cemented in my head that I want to start doing that sooner rather than later. I have always had the dream of writing books for many different people. I have always wanted to be able to share my ideas with the world and maybe they would leave an impact on the people or person who came across them.

Bookcon really helped me realize that once I put my mind to something I can accomplish it. At Bookcon, I was able to meet some of my favorite authors such as Jenny Han and Morgan Matson who have really shaped my goal of becoming a published author. Their books have inspired me in so many ways and really helped me understand that I have a voice just like they do. Meeting them was a dream and I had a true fangirl moment. It made me realize that someone's words can really make an impact on someone and might even help them through some rough parts in their life.

Not only did I meet some of my favorite authors I also met two of my favorite YouTubers, Chelsea Crockett and Natasha Bure. If you did not know I also make youtube videos so this was super cool for me. I was able to have them sign copies of their books for me and talk to them for a little bit. It was really awesome to be able to meet YouTubers who I would see through their videos weekly but actually talk to them in person.

Overall, attending Bookcon was an amazing experience. Little did I know it before walking through the doors of The Javitz Center in New York City my life would be changed forever. You might be thinking that this is weird for me to say but it is honestly so true. That day I was able to meet some people who I have looked up to for many years. I also was able to realize that my dreams are not too big or hard to reach. It was so awesome to be able to see all these readers and authors come together in one huge event.

I just want to say a huge thank you to Bookcon NYC 2017 for changing my life. Thank you for inspiring me to chase after my big dreams because maybe one day I could be an author there that is signing her first published novel among my inpirations who have inspired me to chase my dreams.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
