How To Beat The Summer Slump
Lexi Boyer

The summer slump has come upon us as we round the corner of July. We’re reaching half way through the summer and let’s face it; we’re all getting a little bored. The hype of no responsibilities, no school (for some of us) and utter disregard for learning, in general, has come to a slow and stuttering halt. At this point, I’ve been gotten sunburn at least seven times, I’ve spent well over a hundred dollars attempting to match my foundation to my ever darkening skin tone and my blisters from sandals have finally led me to wear running shoes every day of the week, regardless of the fiery temperatures.

But we still need to remember that in about a month, we’ll be back in our classrooms wishing our skin was frying and school was a distant memory. That being said, we need to make the best of our summer right? We have to beat the summer slump! And here’s how:

Go on a trip with your friends.

Whether it’s camping in the forest behind your house or flying cross-country to see your amigos, make sure you take time to make those memories. It’ll get you excited about the rest of your summer and make memories you’ll never forget.

Make a checklist of things you still want to get done.

Everyone makes a list of what they want to do over the summer. Maybe it’s just me, but I never get everything on the list done. It’s time to reevaluate. Rewrite your list and make sure it gets done! Get productive and spice up the time you have left.

Start a new hobby.

You still have a month left. It may not seem like a lot of time but starting a hobby now could get the routine started so you can continue it as the school year goes on. Start a journal, do daily yoga, start working out for the first time in your life, whatever works for you! It’s always exciting seeing your progression the more you practice. And who doesn’t want a little confidence boost knowing that you got better at something in just a month!

At the end of the day, the summer slump is all about pushing through it and making the best of what you have left of your summer. If you’re in college, you only have a few more summers without full-time jobs! Do something that’s going to make you cherish the month you have left and make the best of

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
