College is a stressful environment. New school, new home, new friends. It can be difficult to keep up with your workout routine and watch what you eat but that doesn't make it impossible. These are a few tips on how to stay in shape with minimal time and a budget.

1. Watch what you eat

If you live on campus there's a good chance you have a meal plan. All college campuses offer healthy alternative options that aren't completely terrible. When you're at the dining all go for the grilled chicken and rice rather than chicken tenders and fries. If you commute to school then meal prep. Pack a chicken salad sandwich with veggies and fruit and you're set for the day.

2. Take the stairs

Whenever you have the chance to take the stairs to class or back to your dorm. College campuses consist of a lot of walking so taking the stairs on top of that with definitely help, plus it beats waiting for the elevator.

3. Don't eat while you study

Eating while you study is just as bad as eating in front of the T.V. So many people have a problem with eating out of boredom and studying is BORING. Having chips or pretzels in front of you won't help. If you're actually hungry grab a yogurt or fruit from the dining hall, it'll definitely fill you faster.

4. Make time to workout

It can be hard but not impossible. Finding time to workout is easier than it seems. If you're crammed all day with finals and midterms that's fine but if you have an hour break during your classes use it. Almost all campuses have a gym on campus that's free for students. Get in a quick 20 minute cardio, shower, and go back to class. If you find the time it'll make working out easier and it's relaxing to take a break from school.

5. Don't eat out

You're probably paying a little of 1k for a meal plan at school. The food may not be great but there's got to be something you like. Eating out is not only unhealthy but it's expensive. The portion sizes are always too big, there's a goof chance you're getting a sugary drink, and you have to tip.

6. Lay off the Svedka

If you go out every night and are starting to realize that your metabolism isn't what it used to be then you might want to stay in next weekend. Alcohol is full of empty calories and if you're mixing vodka with a soda that's 39 grams of sugar you're consuming.

These simple tips will definitely make a difference if you follow them.

College students, you might be able to relate to this one. These probably sound familiar because we often tell ourselves these phrases; however, we are unable to follow or agree with these the following, deep down inside of our overwhelmed, tired minds.

1. "No more spending money on useless things"

Until you walk into a 99 cents store and suddenly have the urge to pick up anything that's less than a dollar.
