The Pelican's and Rocket's just faced each other off in one of their preseason games. This resulted in the Pelican's losing 117 to the Rocket's 123 with Jame's Harden outstanding performance of 26 points as well as 15 assists.
That is what we would call a "double-double." E'Twaun Moore that plays point guard for the Pelican's also had a good game with him scoring 25 points. But wasn't able to receive a "double-double" like Harden. Even though Moore didn't get a "double-double" the Pelican's still didn't take a bad loss. Judging from the statistics they actually contested a lot with the Rocket's with statistics overall. One of the ways the Pelican's contested with the Rocket's was the efficiency they had at the free throw line with the Pelican's having 30 out of 38 free throw makes(78.9%), the Rocket's had 23 free throw makes out of 33(69.7%).
Another way the Pelican's were able to stay in the game was having more rebounds then the Rocket's with the Pelican's having 46 rebounds and the Rocket's having 45. Even though the rebounds were similar the Pelican's scored second chance points when they got the offensive rebounds and they also had a couple points off of turnovers.
And by using their big man excessively which is rarely seen in the NBA the way they did it the Pelican's scored 55 points in the inside perimeter while the Rocket's had scored 44. As far as it goes with scoring overall the Rocket's had more field goals against the Pelican's this game with the Rocket's having 47.2% and the Pelican's having 47.1%.
From my opinion and experience with basketball the way I think the Rocket's won the game was the Rocket's scoring more from the outside perimeter and the Pelican's having more "in the paint" points. Another way I think they won was because the Pelican's did not shut down Jame's Harden like they was suppose to do.
If I was the coach on the Pelican's I would've told them to incorporate the Jordan Rule on Harden in the fourth quarter because of him not recently displaying himself as a clutch player in his recent games. But the Jordan Rule is another article for another day.
To give you a summary: the Rockets beat the Pelican's with the Rocket's having 123 and the Pelican's having 117 with James Harden being the MVP of the game.
