If you’re a music fanatic like me, you spent this week listening to the highly anticipated album “Invasion of Privacy” from Cardi B.
Released April 6, the female rapper’s first album was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America that day. From that moment, Cardi took over the headlines okuuurr!
The Bronx-born leader, Belcalis Almanzar made major money moves with her official pregnancy announcement on Saturday Night Live. Cardi performed a medley of her hits “Bodak Yellow” and “Bartier Cardi” as well as new single “Be Careful.”
If you haven’t blasted the album you should definitely consider it. Need some suggestions? Here’s my top five tracks from the album.
1. Bickenhead
The sample of rapper Project Pat’s 2001 hit “Chickenhead” is the throwback grown folks needed. Cardi took a negative track about women and make it a money motivated. Some link the second verse to stripper or hoe behavior. To each its own, just keep an open mind.
2. I Like It
Fans will appreciate the bilingual track sampling from Tito’s 1997 song “Like It Like That.” It’s smooth rhythm makes it the perfect summer hit. Definitely on my playlists.
3. Drip (feat. Migos)
A perfect collaboration for these two. Hard bass is a staple for Migos and Cardi matches this effortlessly, even doing her own ad libs in the background.
4. Money Bag
Making another TV debut, Cardi performed this on Jimmy Fallon Monday. She raps, “I been broke my whole life, I have no clue what to do with these racks” which sold me on my first listen to this track. The instrumental is booming and the artist celebrates her well-deserved wealth.
5. Bartier Cardi (feat. 21 Savage)
Although this single dropped in December 2017, the track stands strong on the album. After following along on social media, who doesn't want to party with Cardi?
