If you live on the West Side of the states or are just visiting, one thing is for sure: The heat is killer. With degrees hitting over 100 in several cities, reporters are declaring that a so-called "blanket of heat" has arisen. Above-normal temperatures are to be expected through out the rest of summer as a high pressure system has covered the New Mexico area creating a sort of block to any cooler air. Phoenix reached a new record of 115 degrees, topping the 1992 record by just three marks, as stated by the National Weather Service. Authorities have even started to explain it might just be better to stay inside! But, if venturing outside is necessary, here are a few quick tips to beat the weather before it beats you!
For those daily runs, be sure to keep at least a liter of water with you.
One of the biggest dangers of these high temperatures is dehydration. Your body naturally needs water and the heat will just dry you up! This can go with any long drive ahead of you! It's always better to keep some amount of water in your car in case of an emergency! Heat exhaustion is so easy to avoid, so just stay hydrated!
If running an errand with your pet or small child, don't leave them alone in the car.
An enclosed car can cut off cooler air coming in and out. Especially with degrees racing over 100, it isn't safe to leave a child or pet in the car all alone! Take them inside with you or leave all the windows rolled down.
With heat comes the sun rays. Keep your skin safe by using sunscreen!
Time spent outside is always more time on your skin. The longer you will be outside, the higher the SPF should be. No one likes to get burned and no one likes the pain! It's easier to protect your beautiful skin than to heal it!
Lastly, pool days are almost always a must!
Jumping in a cool pool to end your day is never a dull feeling. It is the quickest way to cool down your body and stay feeling refreshed! And not just that, it's also a good way to exercise and show off that great summer bod!
