The month of July brings a lot of things to my mind: Explosions, Old Navy and Walmart USA shirt, sun, and BBQs. BBQs being one of my favorites. While there are a lot of things you can enjoy on a BBQ, there are some classics that just can't be beaten such as hamburgers, hot dogs, steaks, chicken, and corn. All of those are great and tasty, but hot dogs are really hard to beat when they're cooked on the grill.
But it is possible to compete with grilled dogs by cooking them in less conventional ways.
I love basically any style of a hot dog but when you throw them into something else to give them that little bit of extra pop… ooohhh, momma, can those little weiners be tasty.
Here are seven of my favorite, less conventional ways to cook a dog:
1. Mac and cheese with hot dogs.
This is one of those classic combos that are quick, easy, and delicious.
2. Egg and cheese hot dog omelette.
Have extra dog leftover from the night before? Chop them up and throw them in with some eggs and cheese.
3. Hot dog quesadillas.
If I've got some tortillas, cheese, and wieners in the fridge this thing is gonna get cooked and enjoyed.
4. Waffle iron hot dogs.
Dip them in some pancake batter and squish them in the iron. It's a different and tasty take on corn dogs.
5. Spaghetti and hot dogs.
Pan fry them dogs, mix them up with some cheese, butter, and warm noodles. Mmmmm mmmm, luxury.
6. Burrito hot dogs.
I dice them dogs and fry them, mix with some refried beans, rice, guacamole, cheese, and sour cream.
7. Ramen and hot dogs.
Some cheap ramen, sliced dogs, egg, and sriracha is happiness in a bowl.
