Yes, I'm A Typical Coffee Shop Cliche

Have you ever been judged before in your life? Of course, you have! I'm not talking about being judged for what you wear or how old you are to do something. What I am talking about is being judged on what you order at a coffee shop.

Yes, the typical white girl judgment card. I love to see people's reactions when I tell them I want a hot chocolate when I go to Starbucks or Caribou. Yes, I am one of those white girls that order hot chocolate at a coffee shop and I am proud of it. Go ahead judge me all you want but I don't like the taste of coffee. I would rather get caffeine from a soda. Before you judge let me explain myself. Coffee to me has a bitter and strong taste for me. I like it with a flavored creamer in it, but I would rather drink the flavoring because I add so much it's a waste to get coffee.

Coffee shops are so versatile. I mean why else do they have hot chocolate on the menu. It's a hot drink that people love in the winter too. I feel like hot chocolate drinkers don't get enough credit. As soon as it gets warm its all about the coffee lovers. Trust me, if you're a coffee lover, I still like you.

OK, I like my hot chocolate simple. Just the way I am. I like hot chocolate just the way it is with whipped cream on top and if you ever want to make me happy the more whipped cream the better. I don't get all crazy and add marshmallows to it. That's a whole other story.

So, go ahead and judge me because I am as white as can be when it comes to ordering at a coffee shop. I am glad to appreciate the term "white girl."

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
