This week I finished reading Silver Eyes by Scott Cawthon and Kira Breed-Wrisley. This book is one that I haven't been able to put down until I finished the whole book, which doesn't happen often. Because of this, I would like to highly recommend this book.
Some background is needed for you to understand before reading this book. If you don't know the game Five Nights At Freddy's do a quick Google search. You can watch people on youtube play through it if you want. BE WARNED! It is a horror game with jump scares so if that's not your cup of tea just read some of the background on this website. The basic premise of the game is to survive as a night guard at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza for five nights. This seems simple enough until you realize that the animatronic animals move around on their own and trying to kill you.
If you're brave enough to watch play-throughs of this game on YouTube I highly suggest you watch Markiplier play the game. He's funny and his reactions to the jump scares are funny enough that I was still able to sleep at night after watching the videos he made.
It's important to note that these games came out before the book and you can either read the book or play the game first. It doesn't really matter but personally, I think watching someone play the game than reading the book works better. It is also important to note that the games came out before the book. Scott Cawthon decided to write this book after making the games in order to give background as to why the game is taking place.
This book had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I wasn't able to stop reading it and because of that, I was able to finish this book (which is 330 pages) in about a week. It shed light on so many things that I didn't even think to consider in the game. Things like, why are they trying to kill me? How are they moving on their own? What started all this? These questions have clear answers by the end of this book and it's why I highly recommend it for anyone who loves Five Nights At Freddy's or anyone that's just into horror in general. You will not be disappointed.
