On December eighth, UMass students voted to pay $50 million to renovate the campus Student Union. Despite pushback from many students who didn't agree with the renovation, the vote passed 1,246-1,012. While I personally did not support the idea to renovate the Student Union, I have some hopes for how it will turn out.
1. Please, no unnecessary add-ons
Don't add a whole new series of rooms or even a new floor. The Student Union is already large enough.
2. Don't tear down the building and remake it
Do you have any idea how long this would take?
3. Make sure that the Student Union is still somewhat fully accessable
Everyone needs to access the Student Union, so please make sure that we're still able to.
4. Promise that The Hatch, People's Cafe, and Earthfoods will still be open
Because I'll still be craving their food.
5. Promise that the construction won't take forever
Maybe only take a semester?
