Deepening Waters: We've All Been There

Even when you feel you're too deep, you will never sink.

Deepening Waters: We've All Been There

It's difficult to remember things that really matter. It's almost like we live in a forgotten world... Not forgotten by WHO, but what we have forgotten. We have forgotten what we believe in, what we loved... who first loved us. We are broken- no... shattered into a million tiny pieces. We stand, barely having enough strength to take another step. We try so hard to make progress and just when we think we are? We take steps backward. We return...and here we are again. Lost in the world and the life we forgot. We are consumed, by the beasts of this world: self- hatred, broken marriages, greed, and honestly anything that hurts our soul. We are consumed by anything and everything that we can't turn away from. But we have pride, and say we can make it without anybody's help.

This is the life and world we think we could handle on our own. We think we can walk on the water without help, but we only sink under the sea of temptation and pressure of the world. We see it every day! No, we live it every day. We don't see the wandering and hurting. We are the wandering and broken. We wander into the darkness, traveling deeper and deeper because of that glimmer of hope that we wish so deeply to see and ultimately feel. Would we give anything to see that "light" right? We would give anything for that nail to hook us back together- for someone or something to just save us. We have all been there.

We have all been to the deepest point in our lives. Rock bottom. That's where we end up when we try to walk on the water alone. We sink, deeper and deeper until we hit rock bottom. I try again over and over. Trying to be lighter on my feet, so maybe I won't sink as far. But, every time I swim and reach the surface, I sink again. I am always focused on the problem but never the solution. And the more I think about it, we can't change- we can't stay afloat. We can't not do it alone. And we aren't meant to do it alone. There is something bigger than all of us out there. Something bigger than we ever could imagine.

His love is deeper than that pit. Follow Him, and it doesn't matter how far you sink, His love will still cover you, because He is greater, stronger, and can overcome all things. Even things that you think He cannot fix or turn for good. Look to Him, and remember... you are never broken in Him because with Him there is no shattering. God makes us whole and He IS the nail that holds us together. The nails that were driving into Him, and broke him apart? They are the same nails that hold us up when we are weak...because in Jesus... we are strong.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
