***Disclaimer, there is only hope in this article, if you are looking for another angry rant then please move along***
As a young woman facing the edge of what feels like an inescapable cliff of political turmoil, and for some of us, devastation, I want to speak on behalf of the wounded.
Instead of condemning Donald Trump or continuing to spiral downwards in this whirlpool of division and hatred, I am trying to look to the future.
A little disclaimer, I was not a Hillary supporter only because she was a woman. But it did give me a sense of hope for the future that maybe.. finally.. at last, women might get equal pay to men. Finally, women might get equal opportunities. Women might have the luxury of being "smart", "decisive" or "passionate" rather than "pretty", "bitchy" or "hormonal". Women would possibly, for once, be the face of leadership of our beautiful country, instead of the victims of sexual atrocities, rapes, and crimes in which women were are "asking for".
My plea, my hopes, and my tears go to this--what could have been.
But it still could be. We don't have move backwards. We can reach these goals women, and one day we will.
So to Melania Trump, our future first lady; please don't forget about me.
Don't forget about us. Don't leave us behind. Please make us proud. Be the voice in a patriarchal society that we are all yearning to hear. Let the change start from within the very system that some of us are afraid of. Fight for equality and fight hard.
I implore the Trump administration to prove all of us Democrats wrong, show me that you truly want to make America great, and remember that America cannot be great without equal opportunities for half of it's citizens.
