Just recently, I've started again watching ABC's "Once Upon A Time". I love the whole fairy tales meet real life thing that they've got going on.

The show is full of amazing and intricate characters, but the best character is that of... Captain Hook. Here are 10 reasons why he is the best!

1. His beginning

Like most of the characters in OUAT, Hook is introduced as a vengeful villain. But he is unlike the other villains in the story thus far.

His villainy is a result of a justified desire to get revenge on what I consider to be the worst villain- Rumpelstiltskin (because he doesn't learn from his mistakes nor see the evil in his actions).

Hook is different in that his claims for justice and vengeance are justified. Also, the other villains in the story are trying to get their revenge on those who were committing the act unknowingly. And Hook is only interested in killing Rumpel.

2. His journey

I think Hook's character is the best because he has come so far over the course of the show.

We've seen him grow as a person by watching him learn to put aside his desires and plans in order to bring about the greatest good.

We've watched as he learned how important it was to love. And we've watched as he fought to prove that his heart was worth believing in.

3. His hope

Another reason why Hook is the best is that he found hope in Emma and never let it go. We see him constantly recognize that hope and reinforce it in those around him.

He is a realist, but he still believes that good will come if you keep fighting for it. It's one of the many things that make him stand out.

4. His loyalty

He is one of the most loyal characters in the series. Regardless of the danger to his life, he is willing to stick by those he has committed to. He keeps his word and never gives up.

5. His heart

Hook has a heart of gold. It is evident episode after episode. He's made mistakes, but he never stops trying and his intentions are good (for the most part).

6. His pain

The hardship that Hook endures, whether that be his efforts going unnoticed or physical trials, show us how 'real' he is for a TV character.

His use of wit and humor to cope never fails to help make the situation lighter and bearable.

7. His sacrifice

He doesn't hesitate when someone he loves is in danger. He's willing to do anything for the people he loves, and even those he doesn't if the situation requires it.

He's made many sacrifices throughout the series and every single one is as touching and heart wrenching as the next.

8. His strength

Over and over again we see the strength in Hook's character. We constantly see how he resists and overcomes the darkness.

We watch him handle emotional and physical problems all while being amazing at supporting those around him who are blinded to his plights by their own.

We see him draw strength from those he loves and return that strength stronger when they need it.

This is a strength that is born of suffering and hardship but nourished by hope and love.

9. His loss

Hook suffers so much loss throughout the series. He loses his first love and Baelfire, who was like a son to him.

He loses his brother, his true love Emma, and his hand. As well as his crew, his ship, and eventually his life.

But despite all of these losses, he keeps opening himself up and fighting for what he believes.

10. His love

Finally, what makes Hook the best character on "Once Upon A Time" is his love. We see him do incredible things for love. We see him overcome so much because of the fierceness of his love.

His love is a constant throughout the series, even when it wasn't clearly recognized. When he and Emma finally embrace that love, without fear, is pretty great to watch.

Overall, I believe that Hook's character is amazing. Whoever decided to write him that way in the scripts for the show did an amazing job. They really gave us a character to connect with.

Let me know if you agree with me about Hook and/or have more to add! Also, feel free to comment which character you think is the best on "Once Upon A Time"!

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
