Hoodie Allen a.k.a Steven Markowitz took a dream job at Google after graduating with a degree in business from the University of Pennsylvania. Then, he gave it all up to make music. So, what makes Hoodie so different? Why does he stand out from all the other rappers? Why do people keep talking about his music?
The most important thing about Hoodie Allen is that he refuses to change for a record label. He does it all for his fans; tweeting back, taking photos, and signing autographs. From posting his songs online for free to selling $30 concert tickets, Hoodie just wants his fans to have access to his music. Hoodie is so down to earth and he's fun.
At his show for the Happy Camper tour, he crowdsurfed on a raft and chugged a handle of whiskey in the middle of his set. Also, if you get close enough to the front, he'll end up pouring water on you or throwing a cake in your face. It's awesome, but also kinda disgusting at the same time. The cool part about it is that fans buy or make these cakes for him.
His concerts are a huge party that reflect how fun his music is. His songs are all very relatable. Hoodie has a song about everything, from the asshole guys he met in high school to the daily anxieties that run through his head. Hoodie's music talks about things that you don't usually find rappers talking about. It's fun and allows fans to connect with him.
Not only does he create songs that are relatable, but he's also funny. He has songs referencing Friday Night Lights, James Franco and The Hunger Games. In "Fame is For Assholes," he references everything from Emma Watson to Ashton Kutcher. He writes his own lyrics and honestly, no other artist is putting out content this funny. He even created the name Hoodie Allen as a pun.
He's also insanely talented. He made an album of only the acoustic versions of his songs. Most rappers can't pull off these kinds of vocals, but Hoodie can. Here's the link to it. You're welcome.

Hoodie is smart, funny, wealthy, and attractive. Most artists with half of his talent are extremely rude and disrespect their fans. Despite all of the things that could justify Hoodie being cocky, he's incredibly kind and cares about his fans so much.
Hoodie adores his fans as much as they adore him. He recognizes that his fans are the reason for his success and he doesn't take it for granted when we buy his music and show up to his shows.
The Hoodie Mob is just one, big happy family who knows how to have fun.
