An Honest Review of The New iPhone 7

RIP to my iPhone 6...

An Honest Review of The New iPhone 7

I don’t know why, but death was ready for my iphone 6 far too soon. One day, I pulled it out of my purse like usual, and the screen was filled with pink and green lines going in every direction. The touch screen was only responsive on the left side and it was typing with a mind of its own. I really loved that thing and wasn’t quite ready to give it up yet. However, being a millennial and all, 24 hours without a phone and I just had to get a new one. So, I gave into Apple’s overarching corporate brainwashing of society yet again, and got the new iPhone 7. My initial reaction: it’s not that different. I’ve had it for over a week now and still stand by that statement, but I want to elaborate for anyone deciding between making the purchase or not.

Let’s start with the pros. The first is that the camera quality increased. The second is that you can literally dump it in a bucket of water and it won’t break. The third is that you get to feel hip and trendy having the newest model. Well, that’s about it.

Now, here are the cons. The first is that there’s only one port for charging and headphones, as opposed to two separate ones. This would be just fine if the wireless headphones were included, but they’re sold separately for 150$. So, now you have to choose between charging and listening to music. Also, lots of accessories you use, such as an aux chord in your car, will now require an adapter. The second con is that your security password to unlock your phone has to be six digits. Honestly, I don’t think this is a big deal, but my friends were very annoyed when they wanted to check out my phone. A whole extra millisecond to get to the good stuff - so annoying am I right?! The third con is that the most noticeable change in this phone is iOS 10, which can be downloaded on any iphone. Therefore, a lot of the features that feel different to me don’t even require buying the iPhone 7.

Personally, I would recommend waiting until the next new iphone comes out to upgrade. I love my iphone 7, but I already loved the 6, and it’s really not that different. Sure the camera is higher quality, but that’s always expected with each new model. Sure the selfie camera has front-facing flash, but you can always use snapchat for that. Sure you can get it as wet as you want without it breaking, but… well I actually don’t think there’s any argument on that being a completely necessary upgrade. Thanks for doing something right, Apple!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
