As a proud owner of a Starbucks Gold Card I am aware of how pricey a drink or two a day can cost. I also am a broke college student and I don't want to spend $5 for a drink I can make at home most of the time. Starbucks can get fancy with their drinks for example their new "rainbow drinks" look like they may not be able to be made at home, however I am here to tell you that they are incredibly simple to make. This article is a how-to guide on how to make all five drinks at home!

This article is inspired by a video I saw on Facebook. I also found the recipes here, on Popsugar.com

A lot of these recipes require simple syrup and while you can buy this ingredient straight from the store you can also make your own!

Simple Syrup

Pour equal parts water and sugar in a saucepan and heat the mixture on medium heat until the sugar dissolves into the water. The liquid should be completely clear, not cloudy. Immediately remove from the heat source. Store in the fridge until you are ready to use it.

Pink Drink

2 acai berry tea bags

1 cup hot water

1/4 cup freeze-dried strawberries

Ice

1 teaspoon simple syrup

To make the pink drink: Steep acai berry tea bags in hot water for 5 minutes. Add freeze-dried strawberries to a cup. Fill cup with ice and pour acai tea over the ice to chill. Top with coconut milk and simple syrup. Stir to combine.

Purple Drink

1 passion iced tea bag

1 cup hot water

5 blackberries

Ice

1/4 cup soy milk

1 teaspoon simple syrup

Vanilla

To make the purple drink: Steep passion iced tea bag in hot water for 5 minutes. In a cup, muddle blackberries to release some juice. Fill cup with ice and pour in passion iced tea. Top with soy milk, vanilla and syrup. Stir to combine.

Blue Drink

1 passion iced tea bag

1 cup hot water

Ice

1/4 cup soy milk

1 teaspoon simple syrup

Vanilla

To make the blue drink: Steep passion iced tea bag in hot water for 5 minutes. Fill a cup with ice and pour in passion iced tea. Top with soy milk, vanilla and syrup. Stir to combine.

Orange Drink

1 cup orange mango juice

1 teaspoon vanilla bean powder

1/2 cup coconut milk

Ice

To make the orange drink: Pour juice, vanilla bean powder, and milk into an ice-filled jar. Cover with lid and shake to combine. Fill cup with ice and strain mixture into glass.

Green Drink

1 black tea bag

1 cup hot water

2 teaspoons matcha green tea powder

1/2 cup coconut milk

Ice

To make the green drink: Steep black tea bag in hot water for 5 minutes. Pour tea, green tea powder, and coconut milk into an ice-filled jar. Cover with lid and shake to combine. Fill cup with ice and strain mixture into glass.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
