This past weekend was Homecoming at Adrian College, arguably one of the best weekends of the entire year. Bulldogs from all over the country gathered in Adrian to celebrate our school and just have fun together. This was my second Homecoming as a Bulldog, and it was just as exciting as the first. Meeting alumni and talking about school was inspiring, and catching up with old friends was amazing.
The festivities started on Friday with the annual Walk of Fame. All of the athletic teams lined the sidewalk and congratulated all of the new inductees of the AC Athletic Hall of Fame. These new inductees included the 2007-2008 men's hockey team, baseball players, softball players, and all other players. Standing with my team, I could see the history of Adrian College and the great athletes that came before me. Their faces inspired me to be as great as them and always show my love for my school.
Saturday was definitely the big day. It started with Skate with the Bulldogs, a public skate at Arrington Ice Arena. Figure skaters and hockey players alike came to the ice to have fun and share our love of Bulldog ice sports. After that was the parade, my personal favorite. Everyone, and I mean everyone, comes to the parade. Sororities, sports teams, frats, clubs, you name it. We all want to walk and show our AC spirit.
The day ended with the Homecoming football game at Docking Stadium. Students, family, alumni, and all walks of life gathered to watch this game and celebrate the history and beauty of Adrian College. The Bulldogs won the game, but that wasn't the important part. Getting to see friends that we haven't seen in a while and have fun together was the important part.
I already can't wait for next year's Homecoming. I know that it will be just as fun and exciting, maybe even more so. There's nothing like spending a weekend showing your love for your school and singing the fight song at the top of your lungs.
It's always a great day to be a bulldog, but Homecoming is an even greater day to be a bulldog.
