If you're anything like me, you love spending time at home. You love the weekend trips to your hometown during the semester and you love those long school vacations. So when move-in rolls around each year, it can be a little tough.
Move-in is stressful for anyone. Loads upon loads of clothes, food, and decorations to make a bare room feel more comfortable become overwhelming. You need to find classes, buy textbooks, and try to prepare yourself for the stress that is coming. But when you're a homebody like me, there is also the challenge of saying goodbye to your family again.
I know, I'm weird. I LOVE spending time with my parents. They're honestly my best friends and leaving them isn't fun. I miss them a lot and call them when the smallest thing happens just because I enjoy talking to them.
All that being said, when move-in in rolls around each year I struggle. I miss being at home. I miss seeing my family, including my puppy. And on top of all that, I have to adjust to crazy class schedules.
It's hard some days. Don't get me wrong, I love my school and my friends here but some times it's about all I can do to not pack up my things and drive directly back to my house. I guess that's a good thing though for a variety of reasons. Reason one: I didn't do it which means I'm getting good at this whole "adult who has responsibilities" thing and reason two: my parents must have done a pretty good job if I want to hang around with them a lot.
So if you're a freshman(or any college student) who gets homesick, I promise it all gets better. You'll find great friends. You'll join cool clubs and soon you'll be drowning in school work with the rest of us. Hang in there.
You do belong here.
