16 Things That Feel Weird When You Go Home

But, it's a ton of fun.

16 Things That Feel Weird When You Go Home

To be honest, I was extremely apprehensive about going home for my high school's homecoming. I did anyways because it was my baby sisters’ first homecoming. The whole experience was very weird. I felt out of place, much like shorts in the winter. It’s not that you cannot wear shorts in the winter, it is just weird and you will probably feel cold.

1. It looks like a Friday night football game. The lights are shining and you feel as if you should be in the stands cheering in the student section, but you are no longer a student there.

2. It sounds like what feels like millions of people asking about college. How do you like college so fall? What’s your major? How are your grades? How is your roommate? Are you having fun?

3. It feels like going out to dinner with your little sisters and having a blast.

4. It feels like going to pictures at the lake, where of course the ground is always wet. 5. It feels like going to Rita’s with one of your best friends and talking for what feels like a lifetime about anything and everything (there's now hot chocolate and apple cider flavors for fall). 6. It smells like pumpkin everything. This year, the pumpkin festival was being held on the same weekend as homecoming. It feels like exhaustion. You say out until midnight and beyond with your friends each night you are home.

7. It feels like irresponsibly spending your money. You are home and you wanna go out with your friends.

8. It feels like visiting your old boss and catching up with her about her life.

9. It feels like having constant plans and neglecting all the duties you have as a college student. I was seriously never home.

10. It feels like being everyone’s tech support person. You would think that my fourteen-year-old sisters would be able to solve these problems, but they do not.

11. It feels like sleeping in on Saturday and waking up to your dogs’ barking.

12. It feels like doing your laundry for free.

13. It feels like waking up at an ungodly hour on a Sunday so you can see the last of your remaining friends. 14. It feels like going to a local park and getting so many amazing pictures of flowers. 15. It feels like visiting the lake and being pleasantly surprised by the clarity of the water.

16. It feels like home. College is a really big adjustment. Sometimes, it feels really nice to go home and enjoy chocolate chip cookies with your family, no matter how loud they get.

Overall, I had a lot of fun this homecoming weekend hanging out with all of my friends. It was really fun and I got a lot of cool flower pictures. I would not have wanted to spend this weekend with anyone else besides my amazing friends. I cannot wait until fall break this weekend!

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
