Discovering Doylestown

Home Sweet Doylestown

About 5 years ago I moved from West Palm Beach, Florida. The only state I had ever known. The closest encounter I had with snow was a snow cone and I was used to seeing Palm trees trimmed in Christmas lights. I lived surrounded by beaches and hot weather 24/7. It wasn't out of the ordinary to have alligators crawling in my backyard. My dad ended up getting a job promotion and we moved to good ol' Doylestown, Pennsylvania. I'd have to leave everything I ever knew. I traded alligators for deer and went from Summer weather all year long to four seasons. I was excited for change but didn't know exactly what to expect. Little did I know how much I'd end up falling in love with this small town. So for those of you who always ask "What's Doylestown?" here's what Doylestown is..

Downtown DoylestownDowntown Doylestown is where all the shops and restaurants are located along with our notorious County Theatre that no one has actually been to.

Yummy FoodWe have delicious places to eat, including my favorite Jules Thin Crust.

Our Giant StarbucksYou've probably never seen a Starbucks like this one. Fun fact, this building is actually a historical landmark. It's the Fountain House which used to be owned by a Tory sympathizer during the Revolutionary War. The town's first post office was located here in 1802.

The Building That Looks Like a CastleThis is the Mercer Museum. This is a museum that teaches the history of the daily life in America during the 18th and 19th century. Henry Mercer, an anthropologist, opened this museum in 1916 to show and preserve his collection. He wanted to make sure that these artifacts didn't get lost with time.

The Other CastleThis is Kids Castle, it's an eight story wooden playground. Kids Castle is probably the coolest playground you'll ever see or play on and it doesn't get old no matter how old you are.

Peace ValleyPeace Valley offers a beautiful 14 mile trail around Lake Galena. Along with the scenic trail, Peace Valley offers plenty of other outdoor activities. This place is gorgeous no matter the season (fall is the most breathtaking in my opinion).

Lavender FarmsI mean.. how amazing is this? We have a few lavender farms where you can walk around and purchase cute bundles of these beautiful flowers, along with other lavender products.

Doylestown is where I have made some of the greatest memories with some of the most wonderful people. Without this town, I wouldn't have met my amazing friends who have become apart of my family. So for those of you who don't know what my hometown is, this is it. This is my small town that I've learned to call home and I could not be more proud of it. I hope everyone has a chance to live somewhere as great at this place.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
