There is no place like home
Don’t get me wrong there are other wonders
But these places have become home
And I can see it around me everyday
From blossoming blue bonnets to the rustling longhorns
This is one of the places I call home
There’s the tall wispy pecan tree that hovers just above me
To the rowdy cowboy’s stadium underneath the night sky
I can never forget home
The wonderful smell of fried foods at the state fair
To the division of whether you gig’em or hook’em
It’s all deep in my heart
However, my heart has enough room for one more home
As I stare at the Virgin Mary hanging on the wall it brings me hope
To the blasting of corridos from my dad truck which creates life
It all brings back the memories I once had
From the Eagle eating the snake that brings strength within me
To the amazing smell of freshly handmade tortillas that warms my heart
And the novelas that break your heart each time
Makes it all feel like home
However, they were once separate but have become one within me
Y’all I speak like a Texan but with a Mexican accent
Hablo dos idioms under one roof
I celebrate both culture traditions
No place like home I remind myself
Because these homes start to carefully form their own identity
Making it unique like not other
Which intertwine like the perfect braid.
