1. You have mountains to look at all day long.

There is something so comforting being surrounded by the mountains. And it is first thing I tell people when they ask what I love about Reno.

2. There are cute coffee shops everywhere you go.

Bibo, Hub Coffee Roasters, The Purple Bean, Homage, and Global Coffee are just a few of the many coffee shops that each offer a unique vibe to customers, and are a contributing factor to why Reno is so great.

3. Tahoe is less than an hour away.

Doesn't matter the time of year, Tahoe is always a good idea. Luckily when you live in Reno it's an easy day trip to take and a nice getaway from reality. Nothing beats killer views, the lake, trees, and mountains.

4. The views that overlook the city are incredible.

There are of course, particular spots that you can go to to overlook the city, but there is the other chance that you may be coming downhill on a road that lets you enjoy view as well--which are the best!

5. You get all four seasons.

All four seasons happen in a year. But with Reno, they could also happen in a day. Everyone who lives in Reno knows how iffy the weather can be, but besides that, it's nice that we get summer, winter, fall, and spring in full effect.

6. The community is greatly involved with UNR.

Whether it's social events or sporting events, Reno community members join in on the fun making the atmosphere a lot more energetic and alive.

7. Midtown is becoming better and better.

Midtown Reno has plans to add a bunch of new additions, but for now it has boutiques, restaurants, and other small businesses that get people out and about to try something new!

8. Majority of the people are down to earth--I dig that.

It is on rare occasion that I ever stumble upon people who seem superficial in Reno, and it is one thing I'm most appreciative of. The people are overall, genuine and I love living in a city full of people who emulate qualities that I admire.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
